When we think of the quality of life in Santa Monica, one of our unmatched achievements is the Santa Monica Symphony Orchestra, growing and thriving, and presenting free concerts to the community for over 63 years.
In addition to the regular scheduled concerts, the orchestra reaches out to the children with a special concert during the school year. For a great many of these children, this is the first, and possibly the only experience they will have during the year with beautiful quality live symphonic music. This is one of the invaluable cultural opportunities that all children should have.
Each season, music director Allen Robert Gross plans programs that are challenging and ambitious for the musicians and thrilling for the audience. Westside residents look forward to these wonderful Sundays with eager anticipation.
This year we were able to add an additional concert to celebrate Martin Luther King Day, an event which brought together many facets of our diverse community. Our May concert promises to end our season with an exciting program of Beethoven, Haydn and Charles Ives.
You've always made these free concerts possible with your generous support. Again, we look to you for help. The present and the future of this beautiful orchestra is in your hands. And we invite you to look to us for music that continues to enthrall and delight!
