Support the Santa Monica Symphony

September, 1997

Dear Friend of the Symphony:

We proudly announce the opening of the 1997-98 season of the Santa Monica Symphony on Sunday, October 19. Maestro Allen Robert Gross has planned a season of beautiful and exciting symphonic masterpieces and outstanding soloists. As Conductor and Music Director, his enthusiam and dedication ensures our 53 year reputation as one of the finest community orchestras in California.

Each season over 6,000 music lovers from all walks of life have enjoyed our wonderful admission-free concerts. Of course, free concerts are not free. Each program costs over $25,000 which means the average cost per person per concert is $20. our goal for this year's fund drive is to cover our anticipated budget of $100,000.

Concert production costs continue to rise without benefit of comparable increases in our traditional subsidies. More than ever, your support is needed to maintain our fine orchestra... to keep it strong and growing ... to meet the needs of the community.

This year, we will again perform a Sunday afternoon Family concert as well as redouble our efforts toward educational outreach.

We need your support and invite you to join us. Your contribution made payable to the Santa Monica Symphony Association is deductible under IRS Code 501(c)(3).

Your generous support is necessary to continue Santa Monica's magnificent tradition of musical excellence.

Sincerely yours,

David Bendett
President
