Dear Friend of the Symphony:
The Santa Monica Symphony Orchestra appreciates the support of its friends, new and old alike. Loyal supporters and patrons like you have allowed the Symphony to achieve even greater success and new milestones as it approaches its fifty-fourth season of offering free concerts to the public.
Most importantly, over six thousand music lovers from all walks of life enjoy our high caliber admission-free concerts each season. Of course, free concerts are not free. Each program costs over $25,000 to produce. Since we earn no income from ticket sales, each season depends on the continued support of friends such as you, the members of the public who care enough to help us continue our long tradition of making the finest classical music available to everyone.
The 1998-1999 season also continues to offer our educational outreach efforts and our "Artists in the Schools" program. We continue to work with the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District and independent schools and service clubs in an effort to reach students and teachers with a special integrated learning venture. This project emphasizes visual arts, history, music, and writing,
The Board of Directors of the Symphony is currently engaged in planning for the Millennium Celebration and with your help we want to be able to offer a concert season second to none. Please join us in this effort by subscribing as a member/contributor to this wonderful non-profit cultural institution which continues to bring great music to the halls of the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, year after year.
