Cinema’s symphonic power takes center stage, from Korngold’s luminous Violin Concerto to iconic Hollywood scores.
The final concert of the season explores the symphonic voice of cinema. Film music and classical music are deeply connected, sharing the same power to tell stories and shape emotion through sound.
Korngold’s Violin Concerto stands at the center, linking stage and screen. The program brings together scores from the golden age of Hollywood that reveal the evolution of film music as one of the most powerful orchestral voices of the modern age.

Nic Raine) Recognized for her “rich, smooth tone” and “nuance and grace” (CityArts), violinist Alena Hove is praised for her musical clarity and charismatic stage presence. Hove made her solo debut at age nine with the Port Gardner Bay Chamber Orchestra and has since appeared with orchestras including the Pacific Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Seattle Philharmonic, Colburn Orchestra, Burbank Philharmonic, San Fernando Valley Symphony Orchestra, Ottawa Chamber Orchestra, and the Colburn Baroque Ensemble. Recent projects include performances at the GRAMMY Museum’s Chevalier premiere, a commemorative recital in the historic Heifetz Studio, and a program presented by the Thomas Mann House and the Ziering-Conlon Initiative for Recovered Voices. In 2023, Hove made her Walt Disney Concert Hall debut performing the Korngold Violin Concerto at the Celebrate Colburn Gala with Stéphane Denève. Through the Ziering-Conlon Recovered Voices Initiative, she has performed Mieczysław Weinberg’s Concertino and the Khachaturian Violin Concerto with conductor Aleksandra Melaniuk. Originally from Seattle, she began her violin studies with Yuko Honda before continuing at The Coleman Violin Studio. Hove currently studies under esteemed violinist Mark Steinberg at the Juilliard School as a student of the Artist Diploma program. She has also previously studied with Robert Lipsett and Simon James.
