Annual MLK Holiday Concert

This is a reminder that our Annual MLK Concert is at SGI-USA World Peace Ikeda Auditorium (a different venue than our last concert), starting at 3:00 pm.

Due to the high level of interest in this event and our open seating, which is first come, first serve, we strongly recommend guests arrive early. Doors open at 2:00 pm.

Description:  In partnership with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Westside Coalition, the Santa Monica Symphony commemorates the legacy of Dr. King with its annual MLK concert. Guest conducted once again by Gary Pratt, the afternoon concert begins with Quinn Mason’s celebratory Toast of the Town and George Walker’s enduring Lyric for Strings, featuring dancers Bernard Brown and Mawiyah Dowd.  The second half features the passionate Lift Every Voice and Sing with Mary Bond Davis and the West Coast premiere of John Clayton’s Home, featuring a powerhouse of soloists. The concert concludes with We Shall Overcome. 

Doors open at 2:00pm. 

*Different Venue: SGI-USA World Peace Ikeda Auditorium, 525 Wilshire Blvd., Santa Monica, CA. Parking is available at 1212 7th St., Santa Monica, CA. The entrance to the parking facility is on the West side of 7th Street, south of Wilshire and just behind the 7-Eleven store at the corner of 7th and Wilshire Blvd.
