The Santa Monica Symphony’s 2026–27 season explores the many ways music gives voice to the human experience. Through symphonic masterworks, celebrated soloists, choral works, a world premiere commission, and iconic film music, each concert highlights a different form of expression and connection.

The season opens with “Voices of Strength,” where Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto and Dvořák’s Seventh Symphony reveal resilience through both individual and orchestral voices. “Voices of Innocence” pairs the Santa Monica Symphony’s first-ever commissioned work with Mahler’s Fourth Symphony, celebrating imagination, wonder, and the purity of the human voice. “Voices of Justice” honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through Damien Geter’s powerful Justice Symphony, bringing together orchestra and choir in a collective expression of hope and humanity.

In “Voices in Dialogue,” we join the global celebration of Beethoven’s enduring legacy on the 200th anniversary of his death, culminating in the Triple Concerto, where three soloists and orchestra engage in a remarkable musical conversation. The season concludes with “Voices of Hollywood,” exploring the symphonic voice of cinema through Korngold’s Violin Concerto and some of the most beloved film scores ever written.

Together, these programs celebrate the many voices that shape our world—individual and collective, spoken and sung, historical and contemporary—revealing music’s unique power to tell stories, inspire understanding, and bring communities together.
