Catherine Biagini began studying piano at the tender age of 4 and added the cello at age 9. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in both Music Performance and Clinical Dietetics from the University of Washington and in her last year at UW joined the Northwest Chamber Orchestra as assistant principal and later principal cellist. The recipient of a 200+1 Performance Grant, Catherine went on to serve as principal cello of the Savannah Symphony Orchestra in Georgia for 6 seasons. Currently she is an adjunct cello professor at Glendale Community College and the principal cellist of the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic, Burbank Philharmonic, Westside Chamber, Santa Monica Symphony and other regional orchestras. During 2020-2025 she joined the Kadima String Quartet and the faculty of the Kadima Conservatory of Music. Catherine has appeared as soloist with several orchestras including Savannah Symphony, Hilton Head Chamber Orchestra, Santa Cecilia Orchestra, Pasadena Community Orchestra, Glendale Community College Orchestra in 2018, 2023, and 2024 where she is an adjunct cello professor, and most recently with Santa Monica Symphony in March 2025. She has also toured the United States, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, and China, with various orchestras. On the wilder side, Catherine is a member of Angels of Venice, a band that performs a range of repertoire from Renaissance to Metallica. She has released 5 albums with Angels on the Windham Hill label. You can also view her in several TV shows including a 2020 episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm and a Jeep 2014 commercial on YouTube. Her film recordings include The Thin Red Line, John Carter, Mercy, The Music Teacher, and most recently DTF: St. Louis, an HBO Mini-Series. Catherine lives in La Crescenta with her husband and two children and is always in search of the best boba drink.
