Megan’s creativity and musicality were evident from early childhood, a natural gift in a family with no musical or artistic background. She grew up dancing and taking piano lessons, but everything changed in fourth grade when a visiting violinist performed for her class. From that moment, she knew she was meant to play the violin.
Megan began studying violin at age 11, when she joined her middle school orchestra and never looked back. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she studied primarily under De Ann Letourneau, before completing a Master of Music in Violin Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Oregon under the mentorship of Fritz Gearhart.
An experienced and passionate educator, Megan finds joy in nurturing young musicians. She currently serves as Director of Elementary Orchestras for Manhattan Beach Unified School District’s acclaimed music program. Prior to that, she spent five years as a teaching artist and orchestra director for the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s YOLA program at Camino Nuevo Charter Academy.
Outside of music, Megan practices and teaches yoga, and enjoys reading, cooking, and revisiting classic video and computer games. She lives in Redondo Beach with her husband, Victor, and her Goldendoodle, Rooney.
