Sean Stackpoole is a professional flutist and saxophonist in the greater Los Angeles area. Sean is an talented performer who is equally at home in both the jazz and classical worlds. He is the recipient of the Coleman Chamber Music Award and the Monterey Bay Chamber Music Award. He has performed in Disney Hall and plays regularly as a freelance musician in chamber and orchestral settings as well as in the studios. He released his own solo CD of traditional jazz entitled “What’s New” and authored the saxophone method book “Saxophone Basix”, published by Alfred Publishing. In addition to performing with the City of Angeles Saxophone Quartet, he also plays flute and piccolo with the Santa Monica Symphony. Sean has performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival, toured Japan, Russia, Europe and has performed with Joe Labarbara, Putter Smith, Eric Reed, Chris Dawson, Rita Moreno, Steve Allen, Bill Berry and Jack Sheldon.He studied with Jerry Luedders, Gary Foster, Victor Morosco, Sarah Jackson and Jim Walker. Sean received his undergraduate degree from Cal State Northridge where he played lead alto in the “A” Band, 1st chair in the wind ensemble and was also a member of the Symphony. He holds an undergraduate degree in Saxophone performance from Cal State University Northridge.
